Hong Kong Hospitals and NGOs Working on Dysphagia: A Directory
This page is intended for healthcare professionals, social workers, researchers, and case managers who need a structured overview of which institutions in Hong Kong are actively involved in dysphagia diagnosis, rehabilitation, and management — and at what level of clinical sophistication.
It complements the NGOs and Support Services page (oriented toward patients and caregivers) by providing additional clinical and organisational detail.
Accuracy notice: Service configurations change. Verify current arrangements directly with each institution before making clinical referrals or recommendations.
Hospital Authority Clusters: Dysphagia Services

Resource Gaps
Despite the above infrastructure, several gaps remain in Hong Kong’s dysphagia service landscape:
- Private care home coverage: Subsidised care homes have HA referral pathways; private care homes largely lack systematic SLP access
- Community SLP: Outpatient community SLP services in public sector are limited; waitlists for non-urgent cases can exceed 12 months
- Non-Cantonese-speaking populations: SLP services for South Asian and Southeast Asian minority communities face language barriers
- Telehealth: Remote dysphagia monitoring and follow-up (via videoconferencing) remains underdeveloped in Hong Kong compared to Australia and New Zealand
